This week atAdele's Bruno "It's a String Thing Challenge #195" we had an interesting String to use made of 3 sphere-circle shapes a medium and a small one inside a bigger one. Then we had three really nice patterns to use: "Strutz" by Sarah Fowler, "Tessel" by Judy Okawa, and "Printemps" by Maria Thomas.
A few days ago I was looking at some images with incredible sculptures, some of them gave the illusion as if they where floating. As soon as I saw the challenge String and the pattern Strutz (which resembles some kind of supports) I got the idea of creating some kind of sphere sculpture using Strutz as supports as if it the sphere was hold by them, Then I thought it would be fun to try to simulate a sphere with a whole inside.
It is a little hard to see but the brownish area that creates the whole is filled with very tiny thin "Printemps" while the rest of the sphere is covered by "Tessel" pattern.
For this week at "I am the Diva Challenge #316" we are using stripes as our string. We can use any tangle as long as it is in stripes. When I read the challenge I immediately thought of creating stripes using tangles in one side with a black background and in the other side the same tangle but in white background. A few days ago I read a quote from J.K. Rowling's that I really liked so I wrote it down and had it right there on my desk. The quote refers to the light and dark inside all of us, so I guess it translated to light and dark inside all tangles as well ... isn't it funny how our mind works? ;-)
Here is my tile and J.K.Rowling's quote:
This week at Adele's Bruno "It's a String Thing challenge #193" we are dedicating our tiles to the amazing Zentangle artist Lily Moon who wrote a very moving blog post last week explaining why she haven't post any drawings lately. Lily and her family are truly having a difficult time right now and Adele had the beautiful idea of dedicating this challenge tiles to her and her family. Let her feel all our love and our prayers.

So for this challenge we are using Lily's Moon tangles: "Drogon", "Reel", "Lily's Valentine" and "Andante". and The string that we will be using are the letters in Lily's Moon watermark: the two "L's" forming a M in the center.
I have to say that is is a very moving tile and post for me, as I guess it will be for many others. Lily's post has been frequently in my mind and she has been in my prayers. I loved Adele's idea of creating tiles in her honor.
Without further due here is my tile for Lily Moon:

This week at "I am the Diva Challenge" we had to use a beautiful tangle called "Scallamps" by Sarah Uram CZT. This was my first time using this tangle and I found it very organic and relaxing. I decided to pair it with "Poke leaf" by Zentangle founders and "Bubbles" by Suzanne McNeil.
Here is my tile:
