This week atAdele's Bruno "It's a String Thing Challenge #195" we had an interesting String to use made of 3 sphere-circle shapes a medium and a small one inside a bigger one. Then we had three really nice patterns to use: "Strutz" by Sarah Fowler, "Tessel" by Judy Okawa, and "Printemps" by Maria Thomas.
A few days ago I was looking at some images with incredible sculptures, some of them gave the illusion as if they where floating. As soon as I saw the challenge String and the pattern Strutz (which resembles some kind of supports) I got the idea of creating some kind of sphere sculpture using Strutz as supports as if it the sphere was hold by them, Then I thought it would be fun to try to simulate a sphere with a whole inside.
It is a little hard to see but the brownish area that creates the whole is filled with very tiny thin "Printemps" while the rest of the sphere is covered by "Tessel" pattern.
I am not completely sure if I added the shading in the right places to create the illusion I wanted but I cant tell you I had a lot of fun creating this tile.
Isn't it incredible how something you saw or heard just days before is exactly what you needed as inspiration a few days latter? ;-)
To create this tile I used black and brown Micron pens, a 005 Prismacolor Fine Line Marker for the very thin "Printemps" as well as Prsmacolor color pencil for shading in "Sienna Brown" for shading the brown areas and graphite for the black and white sections.
I hope you like it, and come and visit often. As always if you would like to try something from this post in your own work please feel free to do so.
