A new Year, a new beginning.
After thinking about this for quite sometime I finally decided to make my own blog with the drawings and crafts I create.
So for the first post, here is a brief reflection on variations of tangle pattern "Spicas" by the talented Alena Light. If you are new to this pattern you might like to watch Alena's instructions in her You Tube video located at the end of this post. This pattern is incredibly beautiful and graceful by itself in its original version and at the same time very versatile, where small changes in the petals shape and/or amount of petals can create unique variations. I thought it would be a good idea to show you what I mean with some examples. For the first drawing I made a variation on the bottom of each of the main petals where I draw them a little bit wider than the original "Spicas" and then continued creating the petals shape following one of Alena's variation with angled corners.
6 Petal "Spicas" with wider bottom and angled Petals.

In the second drawing I continued with the wider bottom but this time with sharp pointy petals, creating a very different wintery effect, very much like a snowflake.

For the third drawing I play around with the amount of petals, where I draw only four petals. This time I made the petals with an oval shape, which gave it a soft and organic feel.

For all of this drawings I followed Alena's initial instructions and just made tiny variations creating very unique results. I love it when from one pattern we can get so much! Thank you Alena!
If you are new to "Spicas" I invite you to try it. It is one of those patterns with endless possibilities. Watch Alena's Light YouTube video below with her beautiful explanation and steps to follow.
