For this week's challenge at "I am the Diva" we were asked to use the pattern "Amphora" from the amazing Lily Moon. I absolutely love all of Lily Moon's work so it is a joy to try one of her tangles.
This was an interesting challenge for me. I have been constantly coughing and taking strong medications for asthma which help me breathing better but made me a bit shaky and weak. It seems that while I am drawing I have longer periods with no cough, so I kept drawing as it is helping me so much, that is why instead of the typical one tile I have three tiles for this challenge. Even when I am not completely fond of this tiles (shaky hands and making mistakes, as I will explain later) I am posting all of them, maybe as with my family, each person might like a different one.
First Tile
Second Tile
And Third tile
In the first tile I was feeling so absent minded but enjoying each stroke that I messed up on Lily's second step, instead of skipping one row of the undulating lines I continued adding ondulating lines in all of the rows!...when I realized my mistake I was not happy, but then I remember that in zentangle there are no mistakes so I kept going. I continued with Lily's third step adding the swirls (leaving the row I was supposed to skip, empty with no swirls). Finally I added a bit of shading just to differentiate the rows a little bit. To my surprise when I finished the tile I really liked the pattern "accidental" variation!
For the second tile I was feeling much better. I liked this pattern so much that I wanted to try all the original pattern variations. Now the third tile it is so not me... I was feeling very tired at the moment, I didn't liked how the tile was looking so I added black in the corners. After adding black I still didn't liked it, so because I needed something easy I grab one of my metallic pens and used the "Diva dance" pattern. It created a very bold statement, too bold for my liking, but since my daughter loved it I added it to the post ;-)
Thank you for joining me in this long post. I am feeling much better now, and I am sure drawing tangles had a big part on my healing.
As always if there is anything from this post that you would like to try in your own work, please feel free to do so.
