For "I am the Diva Challenge #323" we were asked to create a tile that reflects your home. So I created the next tile:
My home is in a Canadian City in Alberta, near the Prairies but also close to the mountains and beautiful forests. I tried to represent the Prairies in the Maple Leaf on the right and also how beautiful and warm they are in spring an summer with a Maple Leaf in greens and yellows, and on the left side with red fall colors and white for winter snow, the beauty of the evergreens and forests along with snowflakes and mountain peaks full of snow.
It was great fun creating this tile. My love for Canada and it's people runs deep, so it was actually a great honor and pleasure specially right after our 150th year celebration this past Saturday. I created this tile with black micron pen and with Prismacolor Colour Pencils, The Maple Leaf in the center was colored with a Spectrum Noir marker, -a piece of advice regarding this markers, although they colored an area beautifully leaving no markers marks or lines they do bleed a little bit so it's best to do your outer lines with another marker. Also I only use them to cover bigger areas, even their small tip is quite big for zentangles-.

Now to the tiles for Adele's Bruno "It's a String Thing"
This time I have two tiles for Adele Bruno's "It's a String Thing", one corresponds to "It's a String thing #201" which was last week's challenge. I was so busy preparing for Canada Day celebration that I was drawing this tile between little free moments. At the end I didn't had any time to write a post and almost missed the challenge's dateline! I am glad I didn't, as it turned out it won the challenge's tile of Honor! that was a nice surprise ;-)
This was a fun challenge, something about summer and Canada Day inspired me to add green to "leaflet" and red to all the little circles in "Beebug". I had almost finished my tile when I had to leave the tile aside for a moment, when I came back to it my husband had added a few legs and antennas creating an "ant" with Beebug circles! funny he didn't know anything about the pattern's name, he just saw red circles and thought of busy ants and played a joke on me!... I liked it, so I finished off creating more ants and adding a little bit of brown simulating hills or cracks on the ground. Here is my tile: For this tile I used a black Micron Pen and Prismacolor Colour Pencils. Now for this week's "It's a String Thing Challenge #202" we were asked to use a cloud-like string with patterns "Pop-Cloud" by Carla du Preez, "Xplode" by Margaret McKerihan and "CO2" by Antonine Megger as a way to be part of all the celebrations with fireworks going on lately with Canada Day last Saturday and the Fourth of July this last Tuesday. Here is my tile:
This was my first time using this patterns. I was so relaxed decorating all "Pop-Cloud's" different auras that I went a little overboard ;-) but I quite enjoyed it!
For this tile I used black Micron Pen, a bright yellow green Prismacolour Colour Pencil, a white gel pen and a Spectrum Noir black marker for the big black section. I hope you like them and come and visit often, As always please feel free to try on your own work anything from this post. - CrafyGirl
This week at "I am the Diva Challenge #322" we were asked to create a tile using "Aquafleur" pattern by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. This was my first time trying this tangle and I have to say I really enjoyed it, I loved its soft curves and how it creates a beautiful shell or flower.
I had a little bit more time than usual since my kids were busy studying for their finals ;-) and I was having so much fun with Aquafleur that I was able to do two tiles...and here they are: First tile:
Second Tile
The tile on the bottom was my fist attempt with Aqueafleur, for my second attempt (top tile) I felt a little bit more comfortable with Aquafleur and dare to try drawing patterns inside the "shell" sections. It was a little hard to fit patterns in the tiny areas, and for a moment I almost stop, but I kept at it "one stroke at a time" and I did it! ;-) Both tiles were done on toned tan Strathmore paper, using black and brown Micron pens, Prismacolor color pencils and for highlights white chalk and white gel pen. I hope you like them and as always if there is anything from this post that you would like to try on your own drawings please feel free to do so. -CraftyGirl
This time I will go straight to the point as this have been a very busy week with little time for drawing and posting, but I made an effort to draw this tile little by little in every chance I had as I didn't want to miss the opportunity to participate in Adele's Bruno big celebration reaching the 200th challenge mark! Woo-Hoo! two hundred weeks bringing us the magic of Zentangle with new strings and new tangles to use. Thank You Adele!
In this challenge we had a string made up of a capital cursive letter "C' followed by a small cursive letter "C" representing the 200 number with the Roman Number "CC". For tangle we had Adele's new tangle "C-Perf" which brings us an array of possibilities using "Perfs" (circles) connected with letters c's. I decided to create strings of interconnected letter "c's" and a few of flower-star like drawings using 4 Cursive letter C's in mirror fashion joined together with horizontal letter "c's" and topped with a dot as decoration. Here is the end result: I used a tan color paper, Black Micron pen, a brown Spectrum Noir marker, Prismacolor Colored Pencils and a white gel pen. I hope you like it and join us celebrating Adele's Bruno #200th challenge! Please come and visit often and as always is there is anything from this post that you would like to use in your own work please feel free to do so. - CraftyGirl
This week at Adele's Bruno "It's a String Thing #199" we were asked to use the tangles "Apacore" by Lori Manoogian, CZT. and "Wired" by Suzanne Mc.Neill, CZT.
"Apacore" is a beautiful wavy tangle with sections that look like petals. I started with a few in the center of my tile and I guess since Adele's daughter celebrated her wedding this past Saturday the idea of a weeding bouquet came into mind. ;-) I used the string to created a few ribbons on the sides decorated with "Wired" details. Here is my tile: This week at"I am the Diva Challenge #320" we had to create a tile using the tangle "Dansk" by Margaret Bremner CZT. This was my first time using this tangle and I really enjoyed it! I decided to start by drawing Dansk in a random section at the bottom of my tile, without really knowing what I was going to do with the rest of the space. As I was drawing Dansk I thought it looked like little seeds growing and creating roots, so with that in mind I let the idea flow with little mushrooms, as Melinda Barlow called them in one of her Youtube videos "Poke Leaf with a twist", a sun (using Dansk again), and for foliage another tangle by Margaret Bremner called "Pixioze" . Here is my tile: While I was drawing this tile I kept thinking how we are all unique, yet we are all connected...even when each one of the mushrooms is unique and special in their own way...their roots are all interconnected. I guess they will help each other to stand against the wind! ;-) I hope you like them and come and visit often. As always if there is anything fro this post that you would like to use in your own drawings, please feel free to do so. - CraftyGirl |
