When I read Lily Moon's post presenting her new tangle "Agni" which she created in the loving memory of her daughter, I was very moved and decided right there to make the time this week to draw a tile on her honor with this beautiful pattern. To read Lily Moon's post and see step outs for this pattern click here. Little did I know that just the next day the challenge for "I am the Diva" would be to create a "Bead Inspired" tile for the "Beads of Courage Program" . Perfect for Lily Moon's pattern which is full of beautiful pearls or beads! so I started right away in every little free time I had creating my tile using "Agni" pattern. Before I had finished my "Bead Inspired" tile I read Adele's Bruno post with "It's a String Thing challenge #198" and to my surprise Adele created a string to use with a letter "A" for "Agni" and asked us to use "Agni" pattern along to "Knightsbridge" and "Tira". I think we were all in sync ;-) So here are my tiles all using Lily Moon's beautiful "Agni" pattern. For "I am the Diva" Beads of Courage: And for "It's a String Thing #198" I did a second tile using same string and same patterns but different approach. Not so sure about how this one turned out, but here it is ;-) And lastly I had a wonderful time last weekend drawing this tile with no hurry at all while enjoying the sun on the backyard deck. For this one I used tangles still with influenced of last week's challenges "Icanthis", "Bales" and my pattern "Deco Scrolls" (for it's step outs click HERE) I hope you like them and come back and visit often. As always if there is anything from this post that you would like to try in your on work please feel free to do so. -CraftyGirl This week at Adele's Bruno "It's a String Thing #197" we had to work with a "V" shape string and the patterns "Tint" by Henrike Bratz, CZT, "Bales" by Maria Thomas and "Antidots" by Anita Roby-Lavery. Here is my Tile: I loved drawing "Tint's" different variations, and I played a little bit with Bales in the "V" section, where I added four tinny petals with black micron joined by the circle in the center and then filled the background with brown. When I was filling the brown areas I realized that in the top section I created a more open Bales compare to the center and bottom sections where the pattern appears closer together, once I added the brown in the back it created two different effects, one area with more whites and the other with more browns. I liked them both, but it is something to consider in the future depending in the effect we are going for ;-) This was done on a cream colored card-stock and with black and brown Micron pens and graphite for shading. For "I am the Diva Challenge #318" we had to create a "Diptych" which from the little information I could find, I got the idea that it seems to be like two panels or sections with similar or echoing design in both of them joined by a center part (with or without hinges or stitches)...I hope I got the right idea right ;-) Here is my tile with my interpretation of "Diptych": I used a circular white paper zendala size which I turned the bottom section back to create a kind of stand, then I made a few cuts in the stand area so the two panels could open or close similar to a room divider. The patterns in this tile are Tipple and Icanthis. I used a black and brown Micron pens, a Prismacolor Premier Fine line marker 005 for the tinny tipple and graphite for shading. I loved Icanthis pattern and I have being playing with it lately, in this case instead of creating a "s" shape stem I made a straight line and then the regular leaf veins. It makes a nice variation. I hope you liked them and come and visit often. As always if you would like to try something from this post on your own work please feel free to do so. - CraftyGirl
This week atAdele's Bruno "It's a String Thing Challenge #195" we had an interesting String to use made of 3 sphere-circle shapes a medium and a small one inside a bigger one. Then we had three really nice patterns to use: "Strutz" by Sarah Fowler, "Tessel" by Judy Okawa, and "Printemps" by Maria Thomas.
A few days ago I was looking at some images with incredible sculptures, some of them gave the illusion as if they where floating. As soon as I saw the challenge String and the pattern Strutz (which resembles some kind of supports) I got the idea of creating some kind of sphere sculpture using Strutz as supports as if it the sphere was hold by them, Then I thought it would be fun to try to simulate a sphere with a whole inside. It is a little hard to see but the brownish area that creates the whole is filled with very tiny thin "Printemps" while the rest of the sphere is covered by "Tessel" pattern.
For this week at "I am the Diva Challenge #316" we are using stripes as our string. We can use any tangle as long as it is in stripes. When I read the challenge I immediately thought of creating stripes using tangles in one side with a black background and in the other side the same tangle but in white background. A few days ago I read a quote from J.K. Rowling's that I really liked so I wrote it down and had it right there on my desk. The quote refers to the light and dark inside all of us, so I guess it translated to light and dark inside all tangles as well ... isn't it funny how our mind works? ;-)
